Beit David operates an employment center in Mevasseret Zion for women with developmental disabilities. The center serves Beit David residents as well as employees from the local community.
The center includes a pre-employment unit for women who need extra support, a vocational rehabilitation center, preparatory workshops and supervised employment.
- The vocational rehabilitation center serves women with moderate developmental disabilities, all of whom are in the 21+ age group with potential for employment.
- The pre-employment unit serves women who require personalized and intense support from a therapeutic team.
- Workshops for supported employment furnish vocational training and supported integration into the workplace for individuals and groups.
The goal of the center is to integrate adult women with special needs into employment and into the community, according to their individual abilities and needs, and to advance them in areas that are necessary for the workplace, such as gaining social skills, developing independence and building self-image.
Work at the Supervised Employment Center centers around two occupations: assembly and packaging of educational kits for school, and therapeutic gardening, which involves participants in planting, caring for plants and selling them.
The center’s staff encompasses a multi-disciplinary team, employment supervisors, therapeutic staff and volunteers.
The center places an emphasis on a combination of enrichment and educational activities, holiday celebrations and special events, trips and community activities.
